Katy Topsides and Jacket Installation

Another Minimum Facility Platform (MFP) for the North Sea

Sea and Land Project Engineering Limited carried out the Detailed Design of the Katy Jacket for the ConocoPhillips Katy Minimum Facility Platform (MFP) for SembmarineSLP Limited.  The Jacket and Topsides were fabricated in SembmarineSLP’s yard in Lowestoft and sailed out for installation in the southern North Sea area in July 2012.  The Jacket has 3 legs and is based on the SeaHarvester concept, 17 of which have been installed in UK waters over 18 years.

The photos below show the Platform in place, with its triangular base pile-driven into the seabed, and the Topsides were then lifted into position.  The unique MFP design is an efficient, durable and economic solution to the development of economically marginal gas fields in the North Sea.

In Addition to the design of the Jacket structure and foundation, Sea and Land’s work scope included ongoing Site Support to the Lowestoft-based SembmarineSLP yard, followed by offshore Technical engineering support during Platform installation.
